The very first task of our project was to create a logo for the project Career in Art. Students from all partner schools were invited to enter the international call for tender, which had the objective to teach students how to approach tenders, how to develop their ideas, how to verbalize their graphic solutions, and, last but not least, how to approach potential clients.
The winning logo will be used for the project website, on posters, CDs, T-shirts and other promotional material. The author of the winning solution will get a diploma, which he/she can later use as reference for a job or for entering University.
Work was very intensive. Here at work you can see third year students from the graphic department at Ljubljana Secondary School of Design and Photography, Slovenia. Their mentor was Saša Vitežnik Jelen.
Herman Van Rompuy congratulated Luc Davids, a student of WICO campus Mater Dei, winner of European Logo Contest Erasmus + Career in Art.
After being invited by the school-community WICO, Herman Van Rompuy gave a lecture in a crowded Zinnezaal of CC Palethe in Overpelt on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015. He had a clear message: Live in solidarity!
Europe is a young project that is only 70 years old. But during all that time, it has protected us against wars and it made us enjoy life on Earth in peace. Van Rompuy came to speak about how the Christian faith has formed his career as a politician and world leader. But he mainly focused on the European mindset and the main issues at hand, i.e. Greece and Ukraine.
At the end of the lecture, the ex-EU president took the time to congratulate Luc Davids. Luc, a student in the 7th grade, majoring in publicity and illustration at WICO-campus Mater Dei, won the logo competition for the Erasmus+ Career in Art project. Luc Davids is partaking in the CIA-project in which Mater Dei is participating with students from the 3rd grade visual arts and the 6th and 7th grade publicity. The goal of the Career in Art project of Erasmus+ is to develop tools to help young students build a career in art. On the other hand, relationships are also built between students from different EU countries, transcending differences in language and culture.
The first step of the project consisted of designing a logo and organizing a voting regarding the designs of students from 6 different countries (Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey and Belgium). Luc Davids was able to obtain the first and the second place. The prizes were handed to him by the former president of Europe. Herman Van Rompuy referred to the more than 9 million young people that participate in exchange programs within Europe on a yearly basis. He highlighted the importance of such projects and wished Mater Dei and the partaking EU-partner schools good the best of luck with the project.
It was a big pleasure and honor for the laureate!

During the logo activity students in Liceum Plastyczne in Gronowo Górne worked really hard under supervision of Sylwester Mazurek and Janusz Kozak. It was a hard job and for the first year students a new kind of task they have never done before. Thanks to it they had a chance to get to know what the project really is about and find out more about the partnership countries.
